Nelson the Baby Elephant

Hello Target Strikers! Yesterday and today you have read Nelson the Baby Elephant. Now it is time to think about what you read.

Answer the questions in your reading book. REMEMBER TO WRITE NEATLY.

1. How did the other elephants feel when they came to see Nelson?

2. Have you ever seen a new baby? If you have write a sentence about it.

3. Make a list of all the words for family. Look at page 3. There is ‘grandmother, aunt, cousin and sister’. What other family words do you know?

4. On page 4 it says the elephants waved their trunks because they were happy. What do you do when you are happy?

5. Why was it hard for Nelson to make his legs work?

6. How did his mother help him?

7. How does your mother or father help you? Write down at least 3 ways they help you.

8. Was it easy for Nelson to learn to stand up?

9. Watch this video here

10. What do you think the baby elephant is trying to do?

11. Does it remind you of your family? If it does, write one sentence about how the elephants are like your family.
